There are two very large elephants in the room, and neither is acknowledged despite being permanently visible. The first is that which must never be mentioned, reform of public sector pensions, the second a act of supreme common sense in that state benefits, of which pensions are a part, should not be doled out to those who don't need them. Focussing on the triple lock is rather moot because that which is not paid as a pension will be topped up by the myriads of other benefits like pension credit, attendance allowance etc. ad infinitum. Very little will be saved.

Hanging over all this though is the artificially high cost of living, completely ignored by this government. Massive energy costs, entirely manufactured by ideology will go a long way, not only to boost growth substantially but to lessen the need for ever increasing handouts.
